During the anniversary of the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, William Penn House will host a special commemorative event featuring a partial screening of the 2014 film "Selma" and a discussion facilitated by Jim Patterson, who appears as a reporter in the film.

During the anniversary of the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, William Penn House will host a special commemorative event featuring a partial screening of the 2014 film “Selma” and a discussion facilitated by Jim Patterson, who appears as a reporter in the film. Jim is an Alabama native whose father served as a National Guardsman protecting marchers in 1965. Jim will share his experiences growing up during the Civil Rights Movement, his father’s role in the Selma march, and his own journey commemorating his father’s legacy and participating in the filming of “Selma” 50 years after the march took place.
